International Knowledge Translation Platform (NCE-IKTP) initiative

As per the December 2018 NCE Program news, funding for the Networks of Centres of Excellence (NCE) Program is gradually being transitioned to the New Frontiers in Research Fund and will continue over the next few years. In light of this, the NCE Secretariat will not be conducting any future calls for proposals for the NCE Program, the Knowledge Mobilization (NCE-KM) Initiative and the International Knowledge Translation Platforms (NCE-IKTP) Initiative.

In a research environment where collaborations that transcend international borders have become the norm, Canadian researchers have developed extensive relationships with their counterparts abroad. This initiative is designed to increase the quantity and quality of those relationships, at the group level.

The NCE-IKTP initiative supports international collaborations between networks, centres, consortia and their partners, with the goal of accelerating the achievements of researchers and the implementation of their work. Specific objectives include: expanding strategic international partnerships through multi-disciplinary and multi-sectoral networks; accelerating the international exchange of research results; reducing barriers to international research activities; fostering knowledge mobilization internationally; identifying knowledge gaps; and providing training opportunities. Successful applicants are awarded up to $400,000 per year for four years.

Quick facts

  • The NCE-IKTP was launched in February 2016 as an initiative under the NCE program.
