Canada-India Research Centre of Excellence (CIRCE) initiative

Canada needs to be connected to the international supply of ideas, talent and technologies in order to succeed in the increasingly competitive global arena. Finding solutions to today’s complex science and technology challenges increasingly calls for a collaborative approach that transcends international borders.

The Canada-India Research Centre of Excellence (CIRCE) initiative strengthens research ties between Canada and India in areas of mutual strategic importance. A team of key researchers and organizations in the two countries builds on existing collaborations and complementary science and technology strengths to facilitate knowledge mobilization, research exchanges, training opportunities, and partnerships with business and other knowledge users.

The initiative funds one centre, which includes partners in both countries from academia, government, the private sector and the not-for-profit sector. It seeks to generate social, economic, technological and health benefits in both countries, and enhance Canada’s international visibility and reputation as a research leader.
