New Program Creates Geomatics Jobs in Alberta

TECTERRA recently launched the GEO-Placement Funding Program, a province-wide program that helps Alberta-based small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the geomatics industry hire new highly qualified personnel to advance the development and commercialization of geomatics in Alberta.

Dr. Mohamed Abousalem, the CEO of TECTERRA, says that one of the network’s primary objectives is to increase employment opportunities for highly qualified personnel in the geomatics industry in Alberta and to generate economic value for geomatics companies.

Under the GEO-Placement Funding Program, successful applicants will be awarded a half of the position’s salary up to $50,000 for one year. GEO-Placement funding will be awarded based on an open call for proposals.

Funded in part by the NCE Centres of Excellence for Commercialization and Research program, TECTERRA [add link] is supporting the commercialization of geomatics technology for integrated resource management. TECTERRA invests in technology solutions for energy, forestry, agriculture, environment, and land management and development applications. TECTERRA works with industry, entrepreneurs, researchers, and government partners to enable the use of geomatics technologies in addressing local, national and global challenges in resource management.
