Funding issued through NCE programs is awarded on a competitive basis. The application and peer review process requires proposed networks and centres to demonstrate that they can meet the highest standards of excellence. Competitions follow a multi-stage process that includes a comprehensive review conducted by top experts. They are scheduled as funding becomes available, and are tailored to respond to Canada’s current research and innovation needs, in keeping with the mandate of each program.
