| Research undertaken by NCE investigators over the
past year touched – and will touch – all aspects of Canadian
life, from making us better able to fight the outbreak of disease
to improving our chances of surviving a stroke. Work done mapping
maritime traffic will help the Canadian Coast Guard rescue more
lives, while our woodlands will forever be affected by a comprehensive
study of the best practices in managing our forests. Efforts by
NCE investigators over the past year will ensure that water is cleaner
and safer, that automobile engines are lighter and more efficient
and that the private sector exploits the industrial relevance of
mathematics to improve productivity and profits.
