The International Partnership Initiative (IPI) - 2006

The Networks of Centres of Excellence Program is launching a pilot initiative to expand the international reach of the Networks of Centres of Excellence of Canada (NCEs).

The IPI Competition is open to all on-going NCEs. A total competition budget of approximately $7M over two years has been allocated to this initiative. The IPI is expected not only to strengthen existing NCEs but also to gain information that will be useful in the design of future competitions for NCEs.

Thanks to a contribution from Canada's This link will take you to another Web site International Development Research Centre (IDRC), the NCE IPI will also build new relationships with researchers from the developing world. To encourage NCEs to collaborate with organizations from low and middle income countries (LMIC), IDRC is allocating an additional $2M to support the research and networking costs of the LMIC participation.

The goal of the International Partnership Initiative (IPI) is to provide the Canadian NCE networks with additional support to develop and enhance linkages with the best centres of excellence in the rest of the world.

The NCE IPI will enable Canadian networks to be at the forefront of international cutting-edge initiatives. The initiative will support the partnering of Canadian NCEs with foreign organizations to address issues of strategic importance for Canada and where those collaborations could yield mutual benefits.
